Bomb Found in Korat

Ungelesener Beitragvon KoratCat » Sa Jan 13, 2007 3:02 pm

According to my relatives the local thai media report of the police having arrested a woman carrying a bomb at the new busstation Mor Kor Sor 2 in Korat. The english national media have not covered it so far. Maybe to avoid stirring unrest on today's Children's Day. They have reported before that the military and police would increase their presence to keep Children's Day without trouble.

Korat bomb threats

The chief of the Tourist Police phoned last night. Presumably phoning all "Friends of the Tourist Police" to warn them to be extra vigilant at the Mall and other Supermarkets.
Anyone can register with the Tourist Police and offer to help a tourist in trouble.

quote extra vigilant unquote.

:D

Either you do something or you keep your mouth shut.
How can somebody be extra vigilant?

from 2001 till I left Indonesia,ALL shopping centres/hotels were under permanent control.Meaning that all incoming cars were checked (with mirror and all doors to be opened.Every bag checked) and walking visitors had to open their bags.
You get used to it and accept it.

Dutch courage?

Ungelesener Beitragvon Naam Jai (?2008) » Mi Jan 17, 2007 10:27 pm

Are you on the right website Dutch?

Vigilant, means keeping an extra watch for dangers or problems, which I am sure you are aware of.

Keeping interested parties informed is what this site is about!

So I did something useful rather than keep my mouth shut. I passed on knowledge received.

Problems are unresolved situations.

Dangers can be minimised if prior warning is given and understood and acted upon.

There were uniformed and plainclothes officers all over the place at the Mall and Tesco today. Other places I presume. I can reassure you of that.

Please take care yourself.

Sorry instead of "you" do..... I should have wroten "one" !!

I am angry on the lack of information from the administration.

Why should the Chief of police phone (only) his "friends" ????

I thought I had explained succinctly and sufficiently:-

But for you Dutch....

( any resident expat can go into the Tourist Police Office opposite UOB bank on the corner Thanon Sapphasit and record his or her name in their book giving details of professional qualifications (if you wish)etc.... The Police can then contact you if a tourist/expat asks them for specialist help)

I appreciated the personal call from the Chief of the Tourist Police, regarding my safety.I expect the other on his list did too. It shows they are doing something, that they want friendly relations with the foreigners and this can only be a good thing for better relationships. Please understand I am under no illusions about the delicate situations here involving the Police.
