What will it mean for expats residents?
How will business react?
Will democratic government return?
Will local government be more accountable?
How will the decisions help the Regions Thai Poor?

We should have an interest in that. We must have some contribution to offer?

Compared to the rest of Thailand:-
This is the poorest region with the most poverty.
Agriculture is the largest sector in the economy.
This Isan region lags in new technology.
Lacks national Internet connection
Extension of Landline telephones
Power, mains water, sanitation is often substandard.
Off roads communication is poor.
The region has the lowest literacy rate
The fewest physicians
Fewest hospital beds
Many Isan people seek higher paid work outside the region

Rather than relocate as a family they leave their very young children in the care of relatives/friends or even neighbours.
Of most concern there is no Welfare State as we know it to catch those who fall through the subsistence net.

Only one thing you can do: Get as many rich people married to your thai relatives as you can find.
