Hallo @all,

Upcoming Changes to your Wise Account in Thailand
At Wise, we’re always working to deliver better, more localised experiences for our customers. As part of this commitment, customers in Thailand will soon be served by Wise’s local Thailand entity which is fully licensed and regulated by the Bank of Thailand.
In line with these changes, we will be introducing some exciting new features for our customers in Thailand. At the same time, certain restrictions and changes will apply to how Wise’s services can be used moving forward.
New features being introduced for all Thailand personal customers
We'll be introducing the following new features for all Wise personal customers in Thailand, i.e. Wise customers with a personal account (not business account) whose registered address is a Thai address. These features will be progressively rolled out to existing personal customers between March and August 2026.
Product Details
Wise transfers Send THB overseas: You'll be able to send THB abroad using Wise from your local Thai bank account or from the THB balance in your Wise multi-currency account. As always, you'll enjoy mid-market exchange rates (the same rates you see on Google) with no hidden fees. You’ll still be able to use Wise to move money from overseas into Thailand, at the same mid-market exchange rates (the same rates you see on Google) with no hidden fees.
Wise multi-currency account Adding money to your Wise multi-currency account: You'll be able to add money to your Wise Account using a local Thai bank account. Once added, you can convert and hold that amount in over 40 currencies. You’ll still be able to add money to foreign currency balances in your Wise multi-currency account from a foreign bank account. For example, you can add money to your Wise account USD balance from your US bank account without any conversion to THB.
Scan to pay with PromptPay QR / Thai QR Scan-and-pay using PromptPay QR codes: You'll be able to scan and pay both individuals and businesses using PromptPay QR / ThaiQR codes. This will make it easier for you to pay for purchases at smaller stores that don’t accept credit / debit cards. These payments will be subject to the payment or transfer limits associated with your Wise multi-currency account. These limits are described in detail in the 'Upcoming changes and restrictions' section below.
PromptPay payments Local payments via PromptPay: You'll be able to transfer money from your Wise account to any PromptPay ID (mobile number or Citizen ID). You will also be able to receive payments via PromptPay, using your e-wallet ID or PromptPay QR subject to a maximum of 10,000 THB per transaction. These payments will be subject to the limits associated with your Wise account. These limits are described in detail in the 'Upcoming changes and restrictions' section below.
Wise card Order digital and physical Wise cards: You'll be able to order a physical Wise card that can be delivered to your doorstep in Thailand. You can also get up to 3 digital cards instantly. Digital cards can be used for online payments and can be added to Google Wallet to make contactless payments with an Android mobile device. With a Wise card, you can spend online, in-store and abroad without hidden fees or inflated exchange rates.
Upcoming changes and restrictions
For customers who signed up for Wise before 21 January 2026, the following changes will come into effect starting 3 August 2026. For customers who signed up for Wise after 21 January 2026, these changes are being rolled out progressively and will take effect by June 2026.
Wise transfers
Transfers between non-Thai bank accounts: There will be 2 conversions involved (to Thai baht first, then to destination currency), and you might notice an increase in fees as a result. For example, when you use Wise to transfer money from a US bank account (USD) to a Singapore bank account (SGD), there will be two conversions — from USD to THB, then THB to SGD.
Limits associated with outward remittances from Thailand: All outward remittances from Thai baht to a foreign currency will be subject to a limit of 800,000 THB per day. This includes both Wise transfers as well as withdrawals/payments from your Wise account.
Wise multi-currency account
Sending money overseas in non-THB currencies from your Wise multi-currency account: There will be 2 conversions involved (to Thai baht first, then to destination currency) and you might notice an increase in fees as a result. For example, if you send USD from your Wise account to a bank account in the US, there will be two conversions — from USD to THB, then THB back to USD.
Receiving payments in non-THB currencies: If you receive non-THB payments from other Wise customers or into your foreign currency account details (e.g. US routing number, UK IBAN, etc.), we'll automatically convert the amount to THB and add it to the THB balance in your Wise account. Relevant currency conversion fees will apply. For example, if you receive a 1,000 USD payment from a Wise user based in the US, we'll automatically convert the 1,000 USD to THB at prevailing mid-market exchange rates, and deduct any relevant currency conversion fees. The remaining THB will then be deposited into your Wise account THB balance.
The above only applies to payments received from others/third parties. You’ll still be able to add money to any of the currencies in your Wise multi-currency account from your own foreign bank account, without any automatic conversion to THB. For example, you can still add money to your Wise account USD balance from your US bank account without any automatic conversion to THB.
Limits associated with your Wise multi-currency account:
There will be a limit of maximum 30,000 THB per day for all payments or transfers made from any of the currencies in your Wise multi-currency account. This limit will increase as you start using your Wise multi-currency account more frequently. If your limit has increased, we'll inform you via push notification or email. This limit does not apply to:
Wise transfers made from a Thai bank account to a foreign bank account (i.e. does not involve any of the currencies in your Wise multi-currency account)
Wise transfers made from a foreign bank account to a Thai bank account (i.e. does not involve any of the currencies in your Wise multi-currency account)
Adding money to any of the currencies in your Wise multi-currency account from a Thai or foreign bank account
For any currency conversions from THB to another currency, there will be a maximum limit of 750,000 THB per day
There's a maximum limit of 10,000 THB per transaction for any THB payments/transfers from your Wise multi-currency account, or THB top ups to your Wise multi-currency account
Wise card
Card replacement: If you have an existing Wise card linked to a Wise multi-currency account registered to a Thai address, your card will be cancelled by September 2026. We'll provide a free card replacement, and will reach out to you by August with details on how you can replace your existing Wise card.
Cash withdrawals at ATMs in Thailand: If you have a Wise card linked to a Wise multi-currency account registered to a Thai address, you won’t be able to use it to withdraw cash from ATMs in Thailand. You will still be able to withdraw cash from ATMs abroad.
What’s next?
If you signed up for Wise in Thailand before 21 Jan 2026
From now until 3 Aug 2026, there will be no changes to your Wise account, and you can continue using it as usual. In June, we’ll email you to request some additional verification documents, in line with the Bank of Thailand’s regulatory requirements. Non-immigrant visas such as Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) and Education Visas (ED) will be accepted for verification purposes. We’ll share clear instructions and more details regarding this at a later date.
If you signed up for Wise in Thailand after 21 Jan 2026
The above changes, including access to new features, will take effect by June 2026.
If you are no longer residing in Thailand
If you no longer live in Thailand, please ensure your address in Wise is updated to reflect your current country of residence.
We’re excited about what’s coming and are committed to making this transition as smooth as possible for our customers in Thailand. We’ll continue to keep you updated every step of the way.
